Upcoming Louisville Schedule

Hey Sports Fans... Peanut here! Before I get into the schedule, I guess I should explain how the sudden name change for Karen and I took place.

By the end of the week, we will have to check our birth certificates to ensure the names haven't been altered on those documents as well.

I guess I was the first wise guy responsible for changing Karen's name. Soaking wet she weighs 100lb and my perception is that she is a lot smaller than I am, so when we were climbing the wall in Madison
during course check out, I told her she should fly up the damned thing... because she's a tiny little flea. Ever since then... the name has stuck.

I somehow got the name Peanut during last weeks' race. As I passed the announcers' booth, the main announcer referred to me as a little peanut of a racer and you know how that goes, the name has stuck to me like a cheap suit.

So... now we all have new names. Jeff as you know, is Big Pit.

Tom is the "Mad Scientist"... reason being, the way his wild curly hair always seems to stand out in all directions, even with his helmet on. At a race, you can always tell it's Tom from afar, because when he talks his whole body is engaged... arms, head, upper body... all flying in all directions, a bit alarming but nothing to worry about... Just Tom and his enthusiasm!

Ok, here's the deal for this week. It's the reverse of last week, the boys race first, the girls last... so since we graduated as Pit Tootsie's, we'll for sure be busy filling those roles early this week and then race on Sunday.

The course is open for check-out on Wednesday with seeding heats being raced on Thursday and Friday.

For fields with 40+ racers in them, the racers will have to race a qualification race to determine how they will be lined up (the field limit for the World Championship race is 80 racers). If there are more than 80 racers in a field, the qualifcation race will also determine which 80 racers will race the championship race.

Neither Karen (the Flea) or Kathy (the Peanut) have to race in a Pre-Qualification race due to the field size. Which is a real relief!! The way Flea and Peanut will be seeded will be by lottery, they draw our numbers randomly and call us up based on the random draw. This was the same way they did this in Europe... very fair for the smaller fields.

Neither Tom, Jeff nor Jerry have more than 80 racers in their fields, so they will all be racing in the Championship race. With that said, their qualification races are simply for seeding.

Thursday - Tom (the Mad Scientist) Pre-Qualification race 10:20

Friday - Jeff (Big Pit) Pre-Qualification race 11:00

Friday - Jerry (Just Jerry) Pre-Qualification race 11:00

Saturday - Mad Scientist Championship Race 11:10

Sunday - Flea Championship Race 9:40

Sunday - Peanut Championship Race 10:30

Sunday - Big Pit & Just Jerry Championship Race 1:10

In between all of the above will be lots of course check out, fussing with bikes, trying not to over analyze the ingrown hair that just developed on our kneecap and all the other stuff racers can obsess about.

Even though the course isn't open yet, we are actually hoping to go sniff around the course later this afternoon, just to satisfy our curiosity. I will include some pics if there's anything to share.

Talk to you soon.
